Eric Elwood, MD

Education and Experience

Dr. Elwood is a native Peorian and attended the University of Illinois where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. After receiving his doctorate of medicine from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, he continued there with his residency in both general surgery and plastic surgery. He completed a fellowship at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Dr. Elwood is currently the Division Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP).


Cosmetic and Reconstructive Expertise

Dr. Elwood performs cosmetic procedures including breast augmentation, abdominoplasty, liposuction, rhinoplasty and Botox® injections. He has proven to be an Expert Injector. Dr. Elwood has also authored publications on a variety of topics including craniofacial anomalies and breast reconstruction. He has given presentations on reconstructive surgery, including breast reconstruction. He participates in community outreach programs in hospitals throughout Illinois.


Family and Interests

Dr. Elwood resides in Peoria with his wife, Pam, and children.



Dr. Elwood has privileges at all Peoria area hospitals and ambulatory centers.
